Anthurium clarinervium

Anthurium clarinervium is one of the most recognisable velvet Anthuriums thanks to its heart-shaped leaves and thick white venation.

Native to limestone regions of southern Mexico, this species grows in rocky forest environments where roots anchor into crevices filled with organic matter.

Because of this unusual habitat, Anthurium clarinervium prefers extremely well-draining soil and benefits from added mineral content such as pumice or coarse sand.

Interesting fact: In its natural habitat, the leaves can grow extremely thick and leathery as protection against intense tropical rainfall.

Care tips:

Provide bright indirect light.

Use a very chunky substrate with bark and mineral components.

Allow the soil to partially dry between watering.
